“Come, Lord Jesus, Come, Visual Devotions for Advent”, is a devotional booklet for individuals or small groups that offers written reflections on images of art from local artists (honored to be a part of this), as well as artists from around the world. Some are contemporary, present day artists, some from centuries ago.
Art is a great way to open yourself up to the mysteries of God, to sit in the pocket of them as you gaze and ponder. “Blessed are your eyes because they see,” Jesus said. Theologians in their own right, artists are committed to helping us see what was, what is, and what could be. Take some time this Advent in reading and reflecting on the devotions and art in this Advent Devotional, image selection and commentary by Victoria Emily Jones.
