Working at Gallery 223, Lake Geneva

I am a member of a local art gallery, Geneva Lake Arts Foundation's Gallery 223, at 223 Broad St., Lake Geneva, WI.  My daughter is also a member.  We joined about a year and a half ago, and have enjoyed our time of meeting other artists, volunteering at the Gallery, participating in the Art Shows, and selling our art!  I have sold about 15- 18 items since I joined, and it has been very encouraging for me in many ways.  Usually, when Kasey and I work the Gallery, we bring various work to do between visitors.  I sometimes bring bookkeeping, other times art project that I am working on.  Today I brought some fun art things, that will be part of the Christmas Holiday Art Show, that is part of the Winter Show that will also be going on at Gallery 223.  Kasey captured me working on these penny bottles.. "A Penny For Your Thoughts", that I am hoping to have at the Holiday Show.

I love that my daughter and I share this same interest in creating art, and that we can work together at the Gallery too!

What The Cluck? ... sometimes you just have to say it!

 "What The Cluck"

My inspiration was the vintage photo of Henri Groulx and his pet rooster, France, circa 1920.
Note the cigarette in the boy's mouth, and the shoes he is wearing.. a similar shoe is featured in this assemblage... the "box" is actually a letter tray for a desk, and is decorated with croquet post stakes, a cast iron rooster on the pedestal, a spittoon on top, a small old pipe, pool ball, dice and many smoked cigarettes, ...this boy loves smoking as much as his rooster, it seems.. *lol*

Stop The HATE! ... Art in the Narthex

"Art in the Narthex", are spiritual reflections created by artists, based on scripture readings, seasons of the Church, outreach projects, ministries and more, which greet visitors as they enter the church, and offer a chance to experience, often without words, a sense of the holy through art.

My reflections/commentary through art, on current events, especially the horrific events in Charlottesville, VA in August 2017, were featured at ART IN THE NARTHEX at Christ Episcopal Church on Sunday, August 27, 2017.  Also featured were Bishop Steven Miller's letter to the Diocese of Milwaukee featuring his reflections on the events in Charlotteville.

This assemblage will also be in the Fall Art Show at Gallery 223, 223 Broad St., Lake Geneva, WI from August 31 - November 5, 2017.

Memory Jug - "Dad's Desk Drawer Leftovers"

This was my first attempt at creating a memory jug.  I used random items leftover from cleaning out my Dad's desk, as we were cleaning out our parents home, to put on the market for sale.  I love how it turned out... it's a treasured memory of things of Dad.

Nature Themed Cross from Camp Lakota Church Camp 2017

I was blessed to be one of the Arts and Crafts persons for the Diocese of Fond du Lac's Junior Camping Session at Camp Lakota in Wautoma, WI.  We made our own renditions of a nature-scape cross.  This was mine.  The kids all made terrific ones too!

Art Journals with things of nature...

I scavenged for various things from the woods, and beach areas around us, and other elements I had on hand too, to make these cool covers for Art Journals, these will be featured at Gallery 223 in Lake Geneva during the summer art show.

Ain't That A Kick In The Teeth

These shoes were featured at the early Summer 2017 Gallery 223 Art Show and sold!
These shoes were just waiting for someone like Steven Tyler to
purchase them... or some other talented musician/artist, … or even a dentist!
Embellished with dental teeth samples, and on the zipper pulls, antelope teeth.
TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE WITH THESE SHOES!
